Mayor Bloomberg to appeal 'stop and frisk' ruling

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would appeal a federal judge's ruling that the police department's "stop and frisk" crime-fighting tactics violate constitutional rights. James "Whitey" Bulger, the feared Boston mob boss who became one of the nation's most-wanted fugitives, was convicted in a string of 11 killings and other gangland crimes, many of them committed while he was said to be an FBI informant. Hewlett-Packard and its former chief executive, Mark Hurd, have won dismissal of a lawsuit that challenged the computer maker's public commitment to ethics at a time when Hurd was allegedly engaging in sexual harassment.
